General Information

Molybdenum tubes are produced after sintering and stretching the rods. It can withstand temperatures around 2000°C. Molybdenum tubes are available as welding molybdenum tubes and riveting molybdenum tubes which are generally forged out of molybdenum sheets and strips. Large molybdenum tubes are used as heat shields.

Molybdenum tubes can resist high temperatures and do not react with most acids. Molybdenum tube is known for being one of the strong metals. Molybdenum is an excellent element for alloys. Molybdenum tubes are prominently used in solar cells. It also has high dimensional accuracy, excellent internal and external surface texture, and remains straight i.e. does not bend when used in high temperatures.

Key Features

Molybdenum is a refractory material that can withstand high temperatures, even higher than steel and nickel alloys. Due to its oxidation at low temperatures, it is best to use Molybdenum Crucibles in vacuum. Significant features include –

  • High purity
  • High creep resistance
  • High dimensional stability
  • Low co-efficient of thermal expansion
  • Good thermal conductivity
  • Good electrical conductivity
  • Good stiffness, greater than that of steel
  • High melting point (2622 °C)
  • High boiling point (4639 °C)
  • High red-hardness
  • Good strength and ductility
  • High density

Applications

There’s a considerable use of Molybdenum tubes in solar industries as rotary targets for coatings. It is also used: –

  • For components in electron tube, thyristors, thermocouple retainers
  • For heaters of high-temperature furnaces
  • As contact substance in silicon-controlled rectifier diodes
  • As mounting substance for semiconductor devices
  • Molybdenum target tube used in LCD monitor

Molybdenum Tubes are largely used in different industries such as:

  • Solar
  • Nuclear
  • Furnace Manufacturing
  • Automotive
  • Aerospace
  • Satellite
  • Metal Industry
  • Spray metal
  • Chemical Industry
  • Stainless steel & steel Industry
  • Oil Industry
  • Gas Industry
